I recently had the honor of being invited to the NASFAT Youth Wing’s Professional Mentorship Programme 2024 to speak about career opportunities in Information Technology (IT). It was an amazing experience to connect with the youth and share insights about the tech industry and how they can thrive in this rapidly evolving field.

Held at the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, the event aimed to empower young Muslims to explore various professional paths while staying grounded in Islamic values. I was excited to share the stage with incredible speakers like Sister Sakirat Adedeji, who gave a brilliant talk on careers in the health sector, and Sis Labounty who spoke on entrepreneurship and other in the financial industry.
In my session, I focused on the endless opportunities in tech, the skills needed to succeed, and how technology can be a tool for positive change, not just for personal growth but for the benefit of the entire Muslim community. We talked about coding, data science, cybersecurity, and how technology is shaping industries worldwide. I also emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and the many online resources available to get started in tech.

What made this moment even more fulfilling was the realization that this was not just about professional growth but also an opportunity to contribute to the ummah. By mentoring the next generation, we can create a future where more Muslims are leading innovations in technology and beyond.
I truly enjoyed every bit of the interaction with the youth, and I’m grateful for the warm welcome from the NASFAT community. This event strengthened my resolve to continue giving back through mentorship, particularly in ways that align with both my professional career and my faith.

May Allah (SWT) accept this as an act of ibaadah and guide us all to success in both this life and the hereafter. Aameen.
