Back in 2022, I decided to learn some cool stuff online. I started with cybersecurity, but work got crazy busy, so I only finished about 20% of it. Then, I wanted to get better at managing products, and I did! But then I needed to understand data better, so I signed up for a bunch of courses.

But here’s the thing: some of these courses were free, and I got them from a Telegram group. They were really cool, but I didn’t finish most of them. I was stuck at 20% or 50% completion. I was like, “What’s going on?”

But guess what? I figured out some tips to help me finish these courses, and I want to share them with you:
Here are some tips to help you stay on track:

  1. Set a schedule 📅
  2. Use reminders 📱
  3. Make a vision board 🖼️
  4. Write sticky notes 📝
  5. Find a study buddy 👫

Set Clear Goals: Before starting any course, set specific and achievable goals. For example, if you’re learning Python programming, your goal could be to build a simple web application within two months. Having a clear goal gives you direction and motivation.

Create a Study Schedule: Block out dedicated time in your schedule for learning. Treat it like any other appointment or task on your to-do list. For instance, you could allocate 30 minutes every morning before work or an hour after dinner each day. Consistency is key!

Use Reminders: Set reminders on your phone or calendar to notify you when it’s time to study. You can also use apps like Todoist or Google Keep to create recurring reminders. For example, set a reminder to study cybersecurity every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7 PM.

Visualize Success: Create a vision board with images or quotes that represent your learning goals. Place it somewhere visible, like your desk or bedroom wall. Every time you see it, visualize yourself achieving those goals. It’s a powerful way to stay motivated and focused.

Utilize Sticky Notes: Write down key concepts or ideas on sticky notes and place them around your workspace or home. For instance, if you’re learning about data analytics, you could jot down formulas or definitions and stick them on your computer monitor or fridge. It’s a simple yet effective way to reinforce learning.

Find a Study Buddy: Partnering with a friend or colleague who shares similar learning goals can make studying more enjoyable and accountable. Schedule regular study sessions together or discuss course materials over coffee. You can motivate each other and celebrate milestones together.

Take Breaks and Reward Yourself: Break your study sessions into manageable chunks and take regular breaks to recharge. After completing a module or reaching a milestone, reward yourself with something you enjoy, like watching an episode of your favorite TV show or treating yourself to a nice meal. It’s essential to balance learning with relaxation.

Stay Organized: Keep all your course materials, notes, and resources organized in one place. Whether it’s a physical binder or a digital folder on your computer, having everything easily accessible saves time and reduces stress. You can quickly review past lessons or refer back to important information whenever needed.

Remember, personal development is a journey, not a race. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and keep moving forward. With dedication, consistency, and the right mindset, you can unlock your full potential in tech and beyond!
